Popular Porn Star Rakes in $1.5 Million via NFT Scam

NFTs are all the rage. And well, so are NFT scams. That’s how the Internet works. When something cool comes along, a way to fleece the average person soon follows. And in this case, sex helped sell it all (at least, indirectly).

A YouTube cyber-detective claims that porn star Lana Rhoades “CryptoSis” project was nothing more than a scam.

Rhoades claimed that if you bought her cartoon self-depictions, you’d be making a great investment. The latter leading to the “scam” portion of this story. Rhoades selling self-toons isn’t the problem; however, labeling those pieces of digital art as an “investment” is an issue. Rhoades consistently claimed that her NFT collection would increase in value, but it seems she had no way to know that. And she wasn’t doing anything that would influence inflated value.

Rhoades called CryptoSis “a lucrative investment for holders” and an asset that would “increase in value.”

Instead, Rhoades in the literal roads.

Many of Rhoades purchasers thought that her digital toon pics would increase in value.

But instead of their investments rising, Rhoades converted the $1.5 million in earnings to Ethereum and she’s not been heard from since. I’d imagine she’s living her best life (at least, maybe?).

Another porn star named Mia Malkova later said that Rhoades was gone because she was “upset by the amount of negative and rude comments” found in the Discord. Rhoades also deleted her Twitter account. The original minimum buy was $261, but after the dramas set in, that price reduced starkly to $26. Get in while it’s hot. I’m kidding, don’t do it.

Back in January, Rhoades claimed that her NFT collection was “going to go way up over the next few months.”  And “this is just the start of the brand.”

Famous last words, folks.

The collection never would sell out, something that kept Rhoades on the defensive, leading her to claim that there was a “next phase” and a sell out was imminent.

But soon after, she’d meltdown on Twitter.

All of this drew the curiosity and ire of YouTuber Coffeezilla, who called out Rhoades in an epic video post.

Long story short, some people were convinced that a porn stars toon NFTs were going to make them a lot of money. The porn star convinced them of this. The porn star made a boatload of cash and hasn’t been heard from since.

This is real life, folks, and it’s a new absurd.
